I grew up and had a very Hispanic name. My father is hispanic so it seemed very natural to me. Yes, I am very pale and look nothing like I'm half cuban but serious...never even crossed my that it was weird. Well that was until yesterday.
I was editing my family blog and typed my maiden name. I thought to myself that it didn't look right so I kept retyping it until I realized that I was spelling it right it just looked funny. Then it occurred to me that my name was very Hispanic.
I know I'm kind of a dork not realizing this sooner...it was my name though and I never thought much about it.

That is hilarious! I guess that was easier to notice after you stepped away from your maiden name for a while! Both of mine were so similar that I never had so much as a hiccup getting used to my married name!
I can totally understand how you would never have noticed it before. It was normal to you, not to mention, Mom had you all pronouncing Juarez in such an American way because no one would understand you in North Carolina if you pronounced it correctly! I did the same thing. I never really realized how ethnic it was til I went off to Ricks, not that it was my last name!
OH Maria... I love you to death!! Maybe one dayI'll look at my name after i'm married and realize... WOW my name is really English. I love and miss you
