4th of July

You know when you get excited about a cool holiday, like the 4th, because you think your child will finally enjoy it but a wrench gets thrown in your plans so you adjust and it is still fun?!? That is pretty much what our 4th was like.

Poor Jeremy had some 24 hr bug (which I had yesterday) which makes you EXHAUSTED - I mean you can sleep all day and night and it not phase you. Ya...

So I grilled some hamburgers (1 hot dog for Addie) and whipped up some yummy sides for lunch. While Addie napped I made a plan. I ran to the store and got some last minute things so that we could do a fun evening activity. Can you see what we did?

That's right. Smores! I had several people at the store tell me they were coming home with me lol.

Addie loved the idea of roasting marshmallows but that is about all of her interest in the Smore venture - well unless you count the fire.

While we did that Jeremy busted out the poppers (Is that what they are called?) and him and Addie had a ball. Then my contribution of the sparklers were brought out after we put all smore things away.

I wish I had the camera rolling when the sparklers were first lit. Addie made THE BEST face EVER!!!!

On and unrelated note, Here is a lovely rendition by Miss Adalaigh for you all to enjoy ;)

My busy/exciting month pt 2

I'm back! We are currently potty training Addie (I do NOT want to change two babies diapers if I can help it) - so far it is going splendidly!

But back to last month, let's see...

Okay I got my husband back!!! It happened to be 2 days before our anniversary. Since we are having little one numbero dos we decided it would be a good idea to go away for a couple of nights. Fortunately, it coincided with a visit from my mom. Unfortunately, my sister's friend had to be back by a specific time so we could only go away for one night. But it was soooo much fun!

We decided to stay close and I was looking at all the options and gave my opinion to Jer (he wanted to be in charge - I just did preliminary research since he was working so much.) So he took care of everything and I had no idea where we were going until we rolled up at this place...

Welcome to The Red House Inn - A B&B in Brevard, NC. Now let me say I was nervous about a B&B when I found out. But this was NOT a frilly, flower wallpaper, stuff animals, cats kind of a B&B. It was great. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We had our own little suite with this beauty attached to it. I hung out there for a couple of hours... I love porches :D

We were like a block or two away from downtown and so we went and walked it then stopped at a local restaurant (YUM! Seriously Yum. Come visit me I will take you.) and a chocolate store and several other places. Then I went and saw a movie...AT A THEATER! Okay that may sound mundane to some of you but I can't tell you the last time I went to the theater with just my husband. Good times.

Here is my good looking husband. I loved our little trip!

The next day we went to Rainbow Falls and Turtle back, meeting my mom, sister, her friend, and Addie. It turns out that they changed the entry way there though...we ended up taking a surprise 3.5 mile hike, - 7 mile round trip. Don't know how I felt about that being 7 months prego. But it was beautiful.

We got to rainbow falls first. We made the hike down and swam in the pool...

Carly and her friend climbed up to jump off...there might have been some chickening out though ;)

Jeremy took them up close to the waterfall. Tried to convince me but I decided against it since seeing how I'm pregnant and all. But I got close enough to feel the mist but far enough away that my balance wouldn't be compromised.

We then all sat and ate a picnic.

How cute is Addie in this pic?

We then decided to make the final ascent up to Turtle back. Mom and Carly's friend's little brother (a little bit of a mouthful) actually decided to head back at this time. But the rest of us made the minute or so hike.

The two locations combined made the entire hike worth it.

Turtle back falls is a natural water slide. Addie and I did not go up but we played in the shallow area and cheered everyone on as they came down. Here is Jeremy coming down...

Jeremy did play with us for a while of course. One of Addie's favorite thing is going exploring on daddy's back.

I of course snapped a couple of shots of Addie and Jer while we were playing in the shallow area.

After maybe an hour - maybe less - we made the trek back. I guess I should have taking pictures of the hike but I was focused on making it to the end ;)

When we reached the vehicles we said goodbye to our visitors as they made there way back to Raleigh and we went home where I promptly fell into a deep sleep and did not wake for 5 days...

okay, not really ;)
