Memory lane- Spring in the South

I have been thinking alot about my childhood lately, things I would like Addie to experience. All it did was made me miss the home I grew up in. So I have decided to share a couple of my favorite things from the Spring in the South.

One of the most amazing things would have to be the bloom of flowers. One day you wake up and there they are. The trees even burst with buds. One of the most common flowers to NC is the Azalea flowers. It is a bush of colors! There are pink and white and purple and... well there are alot!!!

In Wilmington, where I grew up they even have the Azalea festival. It is quite the event. Southern belles suddenly come back to life. Downtown suddenly burst with people and there is food, events, and games (not to mention azaleas!)

A Common food found in the south is boiled peanuts. They are soooo tasty! Of course you want fresh ones or they will be sour and then not so pleasant.

We commonly would go out to the beach and fly kites. It was a little to cold to get in the water but that rarely stopped a little kid. Many times there would be a dozen people at the spots we went. Sometimes you would get your kite tangled in another persons.

I also miss front porches. I know they have front porches everywhere, but in the south people come out in and sit. Kids will be playing in the front yard while the parents (or bigger kids) will be sitting on the front porch sipping lemonade rocking lazily in their chairs. Any car or person drives by everyone raises their arm in a friendly hello.

Last, but not least. Fireflies. A magically little bug that only comes out for a few short weeks. I remember running around as a kid holding a mason jar trying my darnest to catch these little buggers. Even if I didn't catch one I was able to run around in little lights among the dark night. It always seemed like something out of a fairy tale to me.

Baby Maria and Baby Jeremy

Okay so now you can all decide for yourselves. Who does Addie favor, Jeremy or Maria?

12 weeks and counting

Today is Addie's 12 weeks (3 months in my mind) old. We are absolutely thrilled with her. She is a daddy's girl (and Jer is definitely an Addie's daddy)

It is really amazing to see how she has grown, and we have loved seeing her budding personality. We took her to the park the other day which she was a little apprehensive about at first but she was soon "wide-eyed and bushy tailed"

Here is Addie and Scarlet (Addie's closest cousin). They did seem pretty oblivious to each other this afternoon.

Triumphant!

Last night Addie slept the entire night through! That's right ladies and gentlemen, from 9 pm to 8 am. This of course is no guarantee she will do it tomorrow but one good night of rest has done me well. Victory dance in the endzone, I am happy.

Hairbows and smiles

Well this video is a clip of addie smiling. Now She has been all smiles for us but when we pull out the camera she is more interested in the shiny thing than smiling. So we tickled her lip so you can see her cute smiles!

So when I bathe Addi I like to play with her hair...this is what Jeremy caught me doing the other night to her.

So Addie hair is finally long enough that I have started playing with it!!!!! Now this might not be very exciting for many of you but this has been what I've been waiting for since I saw how much hair she had.
