Houseiversary 2016

We have own our house for 1 year! And it has changed - a lot. So I thought I would do an update on our original house post.

** I haven't taken a couple of photos but it's because we are in the middle of a project. I'll add then once the are in a presentable spot. **

Exterior:

We have pulled out all the front overgrown bushes and trimmed the ones one the side, trimmed the tree, added a flower bed to the front, and painted the front door.

Foyer:

We ripped out all the walls separating all the rooms and painted.

Living Room:

We resurfaced the fireplace, upgraded to gas, painted, new flooring, mounted a TV and ran all the cables, and added lights.

Office/Playroom:

We widened the doorway, started painting then I changed my mind (so thus it sits)

Right now this room is a catch all till our basement is finished. It is what it is.

Kitchen:

We ripped out a third of our upper cabinets painted the rest, changed out the faucet, and borrowed one of the hall closets for a pantry (pretty certain the previous owners did the same)

Dining room:

Paint, floors, and changed out the chandelier.

Hallway:

Paint, flooring, added lights (there were none - it was really dark) , rearranged some closets, and hung some art work

Bathroom:

Bathrooms have not been touched (yet) a new toilet. It's white. It's pretty cool.

 Bedroom 1:

The kids got to pick their own paint. They really wanted all chalkboard but they settled for one wall. Light, closet upgrade,  and flooring too.

Bedroom 2:

This is our second multipurpose room. It's Jeremy's office, Henry's bedroom, and our guestroom. Paint, no light (yet) closet upgrade, and flooring

Master:

My room is currently covered in laundry. Currently not doing anything about it. Paint, closet upgrade, and flooring. The bathroom has a new towel rod. Probably seems like a weird thing to mention but I love it!

Basement:
I didn't take any pictures of because the only thing that's change is that I've sweped it and we got a new furnace and water heater.

We do have plans drawn up and it most likely will be our next big project!

Things are coming back together!

Last week was not very exciting in term of pictures but very productive. All our electricity was put in/fixed, and our drywall was all repaired and the front rooms were retextured.

This week as been more far more 'exciting in ways of changes. It started out with our fireplace being installed. We decided to go for a gas linear fireplace (a little bit of a splurge to tell you the truth) because it seemed to fit the space better. We decided to not stone the entire fireplace but planked it.

And there has been a crazy amount of painting. I've really appreciated anyone who's come out and helped. You have helped far more than you know (Well you and the paint sprayer ;) Sorry I don't have photos of everyone :)

Outside we've knocked all those weeds in the back yard down as well as walked the yard for all the debris that was back there (rebar, old balls, stone, scrap fencing, etc.) In the front yard Jeremy's nephew came and took out our front bushes (juniper) That last photo does not capture the size of pile that was created by those huge overgrown bushes.

Ah, last but not least. Our incredibly full garbage can which I did not think originally we were going to fill.

And that has basically been our last 2 weeks. This week is flooring, molding, finishing up painting, cleaning, and moving in. It's going to be crazy.

It's amazing what a few walls and red carpet can do.

We are officially out of Demo phase and now into crap we have to put this all back together phase. Okay I have to do a before and after comparison because I'm tripping out with our progress. So far we have gotten all the walls out, cabinets and sofit removed in kitchen, all the popcorn ceiling scrapped (even the painted ones in the living room), all old carpet removed and new carpet in the back rooms, french door created in office, electricity is 85% complete and our new hvac system is scheduled out. We are making choices on the fireplace (deciding what we are doing still) but everything else is ordered and waiting completion. Okay now for the pictures!

The office/playroom off to the left.

The rubble which is finally cleaned up (it took me forever to get it all up and I even hired out my nephew to help)

After: (I of course took this photo before I cleaned the kitchen - which ended up being my last task yesterday)

And just because I am in love with my new carpet.

Still need to paint the bedrooms (sigh) but its amazing what you can do in a day.

That's it folks!
