Polishing off my designer skills(?)...

I love looking on the internet at projects people do in their house (interior decorating wise). It has become I guess sort of a past time for me. I just love seeing how inventive people can be with what the find and what not. (Rate my space on HGTV.com is so fun)

I am personally a Traditionalist in taste, but I can appreciate the other design styles and I like pulling from them when I think of designing/decorating my own house.

So for my first project I am planning (Not doing yet, have to save up for that!) Addie's and any other future little girls/big girls room. So I thought I would share my Inspiration because, well I find it fun and maybe you will too.
There are a couple things I am planning on creating myself, others I will eventually maybe buy (haha I love how hypothetical this post is!)

-----------------------------------

So my idea is Princess (duh) mixed with cottage bedroom. I want neutral and soft colors so that it will work as she/they grow older and if/when we move again. I found this bedding and I absolutely loved it! I felt it was totally what I was going for without going over the top with frills.

I found this frame on etsy.com (I love etsy!) I already have a couple of frames (by a couple i mean 2 and neither are on the wall currently) but I think this is my favorite. What is really nice is since I am in an older area I can probably get some recycled wood (I actually have looked on craigslist and have found several ppl selling old barn wood). My hope is to maybe even mimic this look in something else that I might be able to make (i.e. shelves, headboard, etc.)

I have some dragonfly lights that I am planning on putting up. Not the same as the picture but still very pretty.

I also would love to add a storage bench (possible at the foot of the bed or under a window) that could hold toys, blankets, or whatever but still be comfortable (ish) to sit on.

I was also thinking of adding painted furniture (DI/Salvation Army anyone?) Because it would tie in pretty easily.

Well that is it, mostly because I am feeling a nap coming on.

Oh on a related note. BabiesRUs is doing a Win your Dream Nursery Sweepstakes. Thought I would share, Oh and if you win over me, you know you we will have to best buds forever! ;)

Its fun to think about having your own house someday. I can't wait to put paint on the walls! I have no design skillz at all. It will be fun to see what you come up with!

I have decided that even though I cant paint the walls yet I can still make our apartment feel like home.

I love the old wood frame. What a good idea to look on craigslist--I'll have to try that sometime!
