Missing Christmas in July

I can't really tell you why, but lately I've just been so excited for the holiday season! I mean sugarplums in my head and wishing it would come just a tad faster (I think it's partly because we will have a baby during that time.)

I am enjoying this summer weather but I've never been a huge fan of summer. My mom always made summer really enjoyable for us children. We went on vacations, I read a TON of books, we went swimming at lakes and beaches, and we always had some type of activity. But now that I am older summer has become a time of work. Unfortunately, I am not working now (the first trimester was a little rough on me) so I get to sit around and dread the time Jeremy has to go to work. And though we are getting to go to the beach (Exciting!!!) that will probably be the extent of our vacationing for this year.
This is not meant to be a complaint by any means. I am excited for what we get to do this year. It's just I remember summers differently in the pre-work years. So on that tangent I started thinking about how much fun it will be to provide that for my children. I know there will most likely be hard times where we can't do a ton but I've learned it's sometimes the things that cost no money at all that the kids remember the best such as hikes and homemade picinics, beach trips, making a 'fort', and taking sleeping bags in the backyard and naming constellations (to name a few).

And that is what got me so excited about Christmas. I know the baby will be only a few weeks old but it's a new beginning. Not only that but I get to have my parents and the majority of my siblings around on Christmas. (Plus it helps that I have always LOVED the holiday season.) From Halloween all the way to New Years. In between has always been a bunch of laughing and memories. So ya. I'm excited. :D

I totally know how you feel. I'm begining to get the Christmas bug too. I'm thoroughly enjoying summer so far. But it's always about now that I start thinking about the winter holidays. I have to start making Christmas shopping, and craft lists and all that... There are still a few things I want to accomplish before then but I really have to start thinking about it all!
